Thrift Just In...

Blogging has made me recently addicted to Goodwill. I can’t believe what I have been missing all my life! Seriously, Goodwill is up there with chocolate! We do what I call Goodwill drivebys. I have been looking for some pieces of furniture for a while now. I really can’t justify buying it new so I am a regular at looking for it on freecycle, craigslist, or Goodwill! A Goodwill drive by is when one simply just drives by a Goodwill and based on what is outside that day will determine if I go in. I have actually considered applying for a job at Goodwill just to get first dibs. I heard someone say one time “You wouldn’t believe what people get rid of” I imagine I wouldn’t and as general public it probably never even makes it out on the floor! I can say though I am very happy with what I have gotten!
I’m sure most of you have seen the cake/dessert/goodie platters people have made. I have seen them done so many ways! While I don’t entertain often I thought these would be SOOO…cute! I have also decided to make some for the purpose of gifting. My goal this year is to have all my Christmas gifts complete before the week of Christmas. I refuse to fall back into the same routine of feeling like the Holidays just past me by without really feeling like I enjoyed them, because I consume myself in projects!
This is what I thrifted:

With a little help from this:

This is what I came up with!

These are perfect for Valentine’s Day! I’m keeping one and gifting one to my mom with some goodies on it!
This one is for a Christmas gift!

These are for me. I love that they are neutral. These are also Henn!

This is for my Aunt Bonnie.

I chose it because the colors go with her house. The plate isn’t perfect, as it has some scratches but I plan on putting a little doily in the center and you won’t even notice. She hosts girl’s night sometimes, so I’m planning with the next one to take some goodies on it and give it to her then!
Well, that is what I’ve been up to and I’m still going to be on the lookout for more great cake plate combinations. Remember nothing is impossible when you get creative!
